Additional Information
Gaithersburg, MD – Xceleron, January 3, 2008 - the global leader in the application of exploratory (Phase 0) clinical research to deliver the earliest possible, most relevant human insights that enable smarter and safer drug development decision making, announced today the appointment of Bern Galat as Vice President of Business Development.
“We are pleased to formally introduce Bern and announce this key appointment as it’s indicative of Xceleron’s continued growth path,” said Colin Garner, CEO, Xceleron. “Not only will Bern strengthen Xceleron’s business operations, but the benefits derived from his knowledge and experience in driving market expansion and revenues will be significant, especially as the Company moves toward opening its U.S. facility in early 2008 and increasing its global footprint.”
Prior to joining Xceleron, Galat held senior positions at Boston Healthcare Associates, Parexel International and Carestat Inc. Formerly, he served as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Clinical Applications for Ultracision, Inc. There, Galat recruited, trained and managed a global sales force, domestic and international distributors and led cross-functional teams to establish priorities for new product development. Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon Endo-Surgery acquired the Ultracision for a multiple equal to ten times sales revenues.
“This is an exciting time to join the company as there is now widespread recognition of the need to modernize the drug development process and Xceleron is at the center of this debate,” said Galat. “To reduce development costs and risks of late-stage clinical failure, companies must be able to accurately identify problematic characteristics of new compounds at the earliest point possible and selectively advance only those candidates which demonstrate optimal human drug profiles predictive of long-term success. This is precisely the quantifiable value Xceleron delivers to its clients.”
Mr. Galat received a BS magna cum laude from Northeastern University in Biology and Communications and earned a MBA with honors from Northeastern’s Business School.
